The Teddy Travels ‘Round Project
Caminar Latino (“Latino Journey”) is an Atlanta-based organization that creates possibilities for Latino families affected by violence to transform their lives and their communities. Caminar Latino’s youth program serves Latino youth witnesses of violence by providing non-violent coping alternatives they can apply to their daily lives.
To this end, in 2006, Caminar Latino created Project Teddy Bear, which gives each new youth (up to 12 years of age) entering the organization’s programs a new teddy bear.
Why a Teddy Bear?
Project Teddy Bear is a meant to provide these child victims affected by violence something tangible, so they remember their new experiences and friends at Caminar Latino while they are participating in the program and when they are no longer with the group.
To help raise awareness of Project Teddy Bear, Caminar Latino needs YOUR support!
Be a part of Teddy Travels ‘Round Project by purchasing two teddy bears for a total of $50 — one for a child being helped by the organization, and a SpokesTeddy for you to take on your travels.
As you travel ’round, take photos of your bear and send them to Caminar Latino so children can see where SpokesTeddy has been. Check out my Teddy Travels ‘Round photos below for some examples.
Since 2006, Caminar Latino’s SpokesTeddy has travelled the globe, giving children hope and an example that anything is possible. Spokes Teddy has been to Asia, London, Spain and Hungary so far.
You can continue to follow his travels on Caminar Latino’s Facebook page.
Please, help Caminar Latino give children affected by violence something wonderful to treasure. For more information or to purchase your very own SpokesTeddy, please e-mail support@caminarlatino.org.
