Prague… It’s been more than 20 years since the fall of Communism and this place has now become one of the top destinations for tourists. The Czech capital has so many things to offer visitors, whether they want to go sightseeing, party or just relax.
No matter the time of year, Prague is always bustling with tourists, accommodating more than 4 million tourists annually! Apparently, every month a new hotel opens. When looking for accommodation in Prague, look at both the distance from the centre and the price. Remember, Prague is a “walkable” city with great public transport, so it might be better to stay a bit outside of from the city centre and save some pennies for a nice Czech beer. If budget isn’t an issue, there are plenty of good hotel accommodation in the city. Hilton, Intercontinental, Marriot and other internationally-known hotels can be found minutes from the heart of Prague, alongside two- and three-star hotels, B&B, and hostels for backpackers.
Most tourists start their trip with a relaxing walk around Prague. Those who like exploring cities on foot should wander around in the Old Town, just enjoying nice views, religious places and historic buildings. For those who want some background and what they are seeing, there are walking tours which cover the history of Prague, including specific tours (such as touring the Jewish community). The narrow streets, cute cafes, old buildings and monuments make this part of Prague extremely charming. While in Old Town, visit the famous Astronomical Clock, Prague’s Gothic Church and the Estate Theatre. For those who prefer a different sort of tour, there are horse-drawn carriages, riding in a vintage car and boats are options.
Other must-see places in Prague? Be sure to visit the Prague Castle, Jewish Town, Czech Parliament, New Town, the Czech National Gallery, the Castle Picture Gallery, the Museum of Czech Cubism, the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Prague Zoo.
And last but not least… traditional Czech pubs, known in town as “hospodas.” At these pubs, guests sit at wooden tables sipping a Czech beer. The most internationally recognized beer is Pilsner Urquell (Czech: Plzeňský Prazdroj). However, to blend in, try Gambrinus – it’s what the locals drinks. There’s also the brewed-in-Prague beer, Staropramen. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

It sounds like a very cool place. The Old Town sounds very interesting in particular.
Prague, in general, is an amazing city! When I first visited in 2002, I fell in love with it. When I returned in 2010, I still loved it. It is definitely worth a visit!
